Export data to Excel with “lowest level” summary data only

In Primavera P6, you can use Activity Codes to group data in a flexible and customized way.

After assigning Activity Codes and grouping activities based on them, the layout will display summarized data at different hierarchy levels:

Sometimes, you may want to export only summary data to Excel. To do this, you can enable the option:
“Show Summaries Only”.

However, this creates another issue.

When all summary levels are displayed and exported:

  • Primavera includes high-level summaries and sub-level summaries
  • If you later sum values in Excel, you may accidentally double-count data

This leads to incorrect totals

To display only the lowest-level summary data:

  • Go to Group & Sort
  • Deselect the “Indent” option

The Result

  • All summary rows are aligned at the same level (no indentation)
  • Only the lowest-level summaries appear with values
  • Higher-level summaries are effectively removed (or reduced to zero)

This ensures your exported data is clean and accurate, and totals in Excel will be correct.:
