In Primavera P6, you may sometimes notice an asterisk (*) next to the Price/Unit of a resource. What does this mean? Let’s break it down.

Reason for the Asterisk
The asterisk indicates that the resource has multiple price rates during the activity’s duration. This usually happens when:
- A resource’s rate changes on a specific date (e.g., salary increase).
- The activity spans across the date when the rate changes.
Example Scenario
- Resource Test works at $20/hour until June 30, 2016.
- From July 1, 2016, the rate increases to $25/hour.
- You assign this resource to an activity that runs from June into July.
Since the activity covers two different rate periods, Primavera displays an asterisk (*) in the Price/Unit column to notify you.

Key Takeaway
The asterisk is a helpful indicator that the resource’s cost is not constant throughout the activity. Primavera calculates the actual cost based on the time spent in each rate period.
