When customizing Views in Microsoft Project, you may sometimes need a View that applies only to a specific project, not across all projects.
However, by default, Microsoft Project saves any new View to the Global Template. This means the View will be available in all projects. Over time, this can clutter your View list, making it difficult to manage and navigate.
Fortunately, you can change this behavior by disabling a simple setting.
How to Save a View Only in the Current Project
Follow these steps:
- Go to File ā Options
- Select Advanced
- Scroll down to the Display section
- Uncheck the option: āAutomatically add new views, tables, filters, and groups to the globalā
Result
Once this option is turned off, any new View you create will be saved only within the current project file, keeping your Global Template clean and organized.
